Advanced X-Ray: Minecraft Bedrock Resource Pack

Advanced X-Ray is a resource pack for Minecraft Bedrock Edition that lets you see valuable ores through solid terrain. Instead of digging blindly, you can look through the ground and spot ore veins at a glance. It suits survival mining, strip-mining runs, cave exploration and finding ancient debris in the Nether.

How it works

The pack uses two things together:

  1. Invisible filler blocks. More than 35 common terrain blocks are given an invisible block shape, so they no longer hide what lies behind them.
  2. Glowing ore textures. Ores use emissive (MER) texture maps, so they stand out brightly against the empty space.

What becomes see-through

  • Stone types: stone, granite, diorite, andesite, cobblestone, deepslate, tuff, calcite, dripstone block
  • Dirt types: dirt, coarse dirt, dirt with roots, podzol, mycelium, mud, packed mud, clay, hardened clay, sandstone
  • Plants and roots: muddy mangrove roots, hanging roots, moss block, moss carpet, glow lichen, dead bush, sugar cane, mushroom stem
  • Nether and End: netherrack, basalt, blackstone, soul sand, soul soil, crimson and warped nylium, crimson and warped roots, crimson hyphae, end stone
  • Sand and gravel: sand, red sand and gravel use a thin torch shape instead of vanishing completely

Ores and blocks that glow

  • Overworld ores: coal, copper, iron, gold, diamond, emerald, lapis lazuli and redstone
  • Deepslate ores: all eight of the ores above, in their deepslate versions
  • Nether ores: nether gold ore, nether quartz ore and ancient debris (side and top)
  • Extras: gilded blackstone, powder snow, and all variants of suspicious sand and suspicious gravel, so archaeology sites are easy to find
